Will be in SXM for Carnival for the first time. We are staying on Orient Beach. Where is the best place for us to watch the Grand carnival parade. I suspect that the parking and traffic will be an issue. Any suggestions?

If it is the traditional Tuesday celebration (used to be called Harmony Nights) I believe it is over for the year.

I think they are talking about Dutch Carnival, not Harmony Nights.

Carnival and Harmony Nights are two different things.
The one year I was on the island for Carnival, we went into town early, got a place to park and found a bar across the street from L'esgargot. It had an upstairs balcony and that provided for a nice viewing area, drinks and food.

Dansc,
I'm thinking you meant to say you'll be on the island in April, or else you're coming home tomorrow.
There are a couple of other parades besides the Grand Parade which is the culmination of the Carnival events. We used to enjoy the children's parade which is earlier in the month I believe, and very nice, particularly for your son, I would think. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" />

yep pat, maybe it was wishful thinking that i was already there but then i would be bummed that i was coming home tomorrow. Is it bad that during mass yesterday my wife and i started talking about how maybe we could go a week early and skip easter at home? <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Laugh.gif" alt="" />

What about the Lighted Parade on April 11th? Does anyone know where that is held?
