This is sounding like this is a route to avoid for the next few months. While other sites say that this week's delays were mostly because if high winds, it still sounds like delays will be the "norm",

The article says the project should continue for 40 days, so everything should be back to normal by end of April.

The 40 days refers to "this phase" of the project. See the article below. Because of a heavy snow winter all dates were pushed out 15 days. Still sounds like there will be delays throughout the summer - possibly for all airlines.

Sitting on plane JB / SXM-jfk, just announced flight should take 4 hours 20 minutes. Doesn't that seem very long?

Let us know how long from the time you left the gate to "wheels up". That is supposedly where the delays are - in addition to "wheels down" back to the gate when coming back in to JFK.

They always post these longer flight times, then when you get in at the actual time; they say the flight is early!!

We sat maybe 25 minutes due to air traffic. And didnt land until 6:37. New JB terminal a breeze, made it through much quicker than anyone in global entry line

The extra time going to JFK could be due to issues with gate/runway availability and they factored in circling around a bit

Two reasons for the time difference. One, winds age generally from west to east so the trip back takes longer. Two, approaches at JFK take longer than at SXM.
