The question came up in another thread: what can someone could do materially to help save endangered sea turtles?

It turns out that there is a turtle sanctuary on the Island of Bequia and your donations can help!

I just posed a link about this place in the TTOL Southern Caribbean forum.

See the TTOL link HERE

I've been to the turtle sanctuary on Bequia. Also, there was one we visited on Isla Mujeres Both were amazing facilities when we visited.

In the southern Caribbean there is a Venezuelan archipelago named Los Roques, and one tiny cay (called Dos Mosquises) has a turtle research station where scientists are trying to determine how to get a higher percentage of laid eggs to hatch and survive into adulthood. Fascinating place in absolutely the middle of nowhere.

Also the Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Jupiter Florida might be more accessible to some.

With all respect there isn't one turtle conservation program that can prove that turtles are an endangered species, and Bequia where it's still legal to hunt whales hasn't a clue unless someone is using the hearsay for profit.
Absolutely no one can show proof.

Twanger--I get it, I truly do. However, due to the ruckus that was stirred up here, if people wish to continue the discussion of the topic, they should go to the Southern Caribbean thread that you posted.
