Just back last night! We were only down for 4 nights, and as usual stayed at The Towers at Mullet Bay. Rented our car from Lesley Bruce, he advised me ahead of time he didn't have any cars left, (gee, I only booked the trip 10 days out!!!), but he would take care of me. We arrived and there he was, directed us to Steve from Grand Case Car Rental, and within 15 minutes we were off. Checked into The Towers, dumped our bags and headed out.
Next stop was to meet Sharon Harris at Royal Palm, I had e-mailed her several times but we had never met. 2 years ago I purchased a chippie from her for my cell phone and it worked great, then this past summer UTS changed how they were doing business and were turning off numbers that were unused for so many months, so Sharon sent me an e-mail and advised me of this, and offered to split the cost of the new chippie with me. Told her not necessary, but that it would be great! So met her and Doris, got the new chippie and off to lunch. Funny the day before we arrived the Herald had a huge add from UTS saying they were now island wide!!!!
We usually have our first lunch at Peg Legs, but had such bad service there last April, it was a Sunday and everyone was off, they should just close! So ended up trying Pineapple Petes in honor of my cousins boyfriend. He basically saved our trip! We arrived at Bradley Airport with our passports at 5:15 Friday morning only to find out I had THE KIDS PASSPORTS !!!! I thought I was gonna pass out! Called Pete, he made it in about 45-50 minutes (its a hour and twenty minute ride!!!) We boarded our plane with 20 minutes to spare!
Pineapple Petes was a great meal, service was perfect. Will definately go back in April. Off to Food Express for the basics and then back to the Towers, next thing we know its 8:30 at night, we were exhausted, orded Philly Joes delivery and then off to bed.
Got up early and headed to Cupecoy, haven't been there in 20 years. Well guys, I know your all passionate about it, it was a beautiful beach at one time, but really don't get it. Unless it was a bad day, there was hardly any sand, you had to scale the rocks to get to the next cove, Danny and the gang were great. Saw probably 7 to 8 different realtors showing people the area, and one said so this is what my view will be. Honestly, as long as they push back the walls, I would rather see the 16 viillas there then that mess the call The Cliff!! Thats the project that should be boycotted, its awful, 12 or 14 stories, it totally hovers over the Beach Club. I will post pictures from Mullet, thats the one that should have been stopped, between the destruction of the skyline, and the amount of traffic it will bring in, what a mess!!
Headed back to The Towers cleaned up and headed over to SMYC/Spinnakers, had a few drinks, it was a beautiful night, very windy but very nice hanging out there. We left and headed to Rare for dinner. I know this is one of the hot spots on the island, but it could be anywhere. Meal was very good, but too pricy for our tastes. Needless to say out of our league, not a Caribbean feel at all. (meal at uncle harry's was just as good, actually spaced better, and 1/3 the price!!!) Headed to the Royale after dinner, husband had issues with craps!! But I hit for $300.00 on the $1.00 slots, so at least I felt better after spending half that on dinner!!
Next day off to Mullet, got lunch from Citrus, there Submarine Sandwiches are the best. Left the beach, cleaned up and headed to SMYC/Spinnakers to hook up with Barbara and Irina and their hubbys, had a great time, fun watching the ships come in. Then headed to Uncle Harrys for dinner, great 2 lb lobster. Nothing like Maine, but still very good.
Monday we went back to Mullet, got there at 9:00 am and left at 5:30, another great day. Then off to Marios Bistro for dinner, this is one of our favorites, which I thought was expensive, but with appetizer drinks and deserts, plus the Euro exchange, still less expensive than Rare!!! I have never had a bad meal there.
Tuesday we hung at the pool for the morning, checked out, dropped the car at the airport parking lot!! Thats always funny, just put the keys under the mat, ticket in the visor and leave!!! Had lunch at Cafe Juliana and off we went. Flew American, had no problems in eather direction, glad we did Bradley and not JFK like we usually do, there were many NY delays last night!
All in all a great trip, heading to Disney for New Years, trying to convince the kids we should go back to ST. Maarten, but can't seem to make them change their mind. So will have to wait till Easter to be back down, but it will be for two weeks, so I guess I can wait!!!!
