The wind is honking on Orient this morning. Sand is blowing the seaweed is back. But! It's snowing in Philly and I'm having an espresso at Good Morning so who cares

What's with these winds! It's been a gentle breeze, and then a gale these past two weeks. It should be interesting for the sailors.

The wind is relentless this week! Most wind I've ever experienced in all our trips.
We could see some of the boats In the morning's race as they based Divi, and several were really leaning over...of course I don't know the nautical term for that..but where their mast is down close to the water. A couple looked like they might not come up again, but they made it.

I wonder if it isn't so windy on the other beaches right now? maybe a good day to go to Cupecoy or Happy Bay?

As a sailor, sometimes heeling is healing. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" /> It's rare sailboats are knocked down and catamarans will usually break before they flip.

Mullet Bay was actually pretty calm today.
Friends who stayed here at Royal Palm said the wind/sand was pretty bad at the beach and pool.

I worked the committee boat yesterday and today. At the last start sequence for the Gill Commodore's Cup yesterday we had sustained 32 knots for a long period, today we had a bit bigger waves but only saw 32 knots in gusts, sustained between 25 and 30, though. There was one shredded genoa on a private boat yesterday, and I saw one boat return today with a shredded foresail as well, but I don't have today's final numbers yet.

We have been back home for a week now. It WAS fairly windy on Orient during most the two weeks we were there. But as I say, even a windy day on Orient is still a fabulous day. This is my happy place.

It was windy when we were there last week but we also walked the little path at the end of Orient to Le Galion and the wind was much calmer and the water as well. Actually, Le Galion is a really beautiful little beach

I agree genio67, Le Galion is a great respite from the Orient winds. It reminds me more of a family lake atmosphere, very laid back, but you can still get food and drinks and rent a windsurfer if desired. We've made that walk many times.
