French Quarter:--- Residents of French Quarter were thrown into shock on Tuesday when they heard of the brutal murder of the owner of the Old House "Former Rum Museum" Pierre Beauperthuy.

To the original poster--this is an awful story. However, please post a link to the story. You cannnot copy and paste in toto a copyrighted story. Carol Hill

This is awful. We visited Pierre back in 2013 and enjoyed spending time with him and all of his stories. He told us then about the multiple times he had been robbed at gunpoint in his house. So sad.

We were at Bernadine's yesterday, passed the Old House twice and didn't notice anything. Sad news!

Did anyone happen to read the comment section after this story? I was very surprised to read that someone thinks this murder may be related to fact that property next to Pierre was bought by a large company---for what purpose wasn't stated. The implication may be that this company approached Pierre and he refused to sell.

He gave me a tour of The Old House when he first opened it. He also told me his family history which is very interesting. The swizzle stick collection has to be the largest in the world. It should be in the book of world records. He was a fine gentleman and will be missed.

Please don't post hearsay, rumors or unproven info.

This will become truth on the beach chair grapevine!

Rondon's response seemed to question the validity of this assertion. Your response, on the other hand, seems arrogant as hell. "We accept your apology". Indeed! Please speak for yourself, I see no reason for him to apologize.

Property next to Pierre was bought by someone in his family not a large company.

You remind me of someone who used to post on here multiple times everyday. He was from New Jersey and I think his name was Picnic or such. You could annoy a dead person.

I'm sorry to have stirred up emotions here over a simple post wondering if anyone had read further on the article link posted. That's all! I had no intention of propagating hearsay, rumor or otherwise.

Actually, when I read it the only questions I had were 1. who bought property, 2. what would it be used for.

Again, sorry for the post. Sorry someone was murdered on this lovely island. Sorry that some here can be so uptight over things.

RonDon, your first apology was good enough, even unnecessary as far as I am concerned. No need for the second apology.
