I was just reading another post on long sleeves/pants for bug protection. My wife and I had our first BVI trip last June and we of course were prepared for bugs. Funny thing is, we didn't have one problem with bugs at all. We stayed at Cooper, Leverick, Saba, Peter Island and Anegada. Not one problem with bugs.
So I have to ask were we just lucky? Are there certain areas that mosquitos/no-seeums are a problem? Certain times of year?
Just curious because we fully expected to have to fight off some insects. It is the tropics after all. But we were nicely surprised.

No bugs in the BVI's .they all blow past us on the trades and end up in Puerto Rico and St Thomas..

We've been BVI 3x and many other islands as well. Never had a bug issue. There was a glorious bloom of butterflies on Anse Marcel one year. Guess we're lucky. Knock on wood.

We have never had a problem with bugs during any of our trips except 1 night and it was as Trellis and there was no breeze.
As Mal says, they blow right by.

...and then there was that rainy end of April that led to a plague of mosquitoes 7 days later. We've seen that in November as well. It happens, more likely in the wetter months. We come armed and we're happy when we don't need our bug spray.
Cheers, RickG
