Here are some quick instructions on how to post your photo on the new photo galleries.

First, the picture needs to be a max file size of 250K, most of your photo software can compress or resize it a little to fit that file size amount.

Then go to the photo gallery. Post a new note, add any text to the top of the note that you would like, for example a description of what the photo is about.

Then click on "Preview" to be able to add your photo. You will then see a box at the bottom of the note to browse your hard drive for the photo that you want to upload. Then find your file on your hard drive through the screens and press the appropriate buttons and the file will automatically be uploaded and stored with your message.

Sorry, but I'm a bit tech-illiterate...how does 250K convert to pixels? More specifically, can I post a VGA picture (640 X 480 pixels)?

A 640x480 might work. How to check the 250k number would be to go to windows explorer and look at the properties of the picture. Basically going to the folder where it is located and look at the file size on the right hand side of the screen.

Not sure what you mean by a VGA picture -- there is not really a VGA picture format?

Hi, Eric,

Is there any way to post a picture, 250k or less, in topics other than the picture galleries. Without the picture having a url of its own, I mean.

No, we do not allow posting to any other forums. Bandwidth and securty issues. It was a big thing for me to even allow uploads at all, and I have it setup so that I am sort of "comfortable" with it. You have no idea about the "daily" and I mean more than daily hack attempts that I get. And these are the ones that I know about!

OK Eric - I did this once so it must be foolproof! Now where's the photo gallery?

To post your profile picture, then go to MY HOME and under the preferences section your will see about your personal "avatar/picture" that is where you can elect to upload the photo.

The photo galleries are where we allow upload of vacation pictures, which is completely different? Main Index!!!! and then scroll down!!!

Yes it works like before -- just that I did not anticipate a hard drive crash tha could not be recovered.

Back ups of these particular files are "difficult" shall we say. And I quite frankly don't get enough from the advertising to pay for all of the fancy stuff. I mean -- do you realize that I get less than $1.40 per day for advertising from any individual sponsor here? My cost per day are shall I say more than that!

Around six months or so ago I actuall commission somebody to determine what I should charge -- you would not believe it. But let me say that twice as much would be still be a 50% discount if not more. Drives me crazy at times, especially when people complain about what I charge for advertising.... geeezzz! Maybe I should charge even 1/2 of the market rate and then be brutal about it? Like every body else on the internet and even print publishing for that matter. Enough already!

For some reason, the spammers love this post, so will lock it. If you have questions about the subject, please post a new thread.
