ok so I don't drink (used to- ALOT) and my wife and I are going to SXM and was wondering besides beach bars and "out to dinner"....what else is there for a middle aged married couple to do at night? This is a stupid comment...the casinos....are the "odds" similar to vegas? I mean the odds of losing your money just as good/bad? We don't really read...I heard the wifi is spotty and there is 1 English channel on TV....any suggestions ? (already thought of getting intimate but that dosnt take all night...lololol <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Yikes.gif" alt="" />

We have been to Vegas many times and found that the casino we went to (at Caravanserai) DID NOT even come close to comparing to Vegas casinos. With that said, not sure about the odds thing, but it was something to do. There is live entertainment on the island but again, at bars. Are you avoiding the bars?? You can certainly go to enjoy and not drink. Same with the Pub Crawl that Neil does on the Celine Too. It can be more about the meal, being with folks, etc. Nice time. There are other sunset type trips as well. Sometimes there are TTOL parties, great for making new friends!! We are in our 50s and although we love to "play" we are usually tired by dinner time so relax at our place and turn in early to get ready for another day! Find a hotel with good internet, as for the tv you should be more than entertained with the channels you can get! Good luck!!

You don't have to drink alcohol to enjoy the music at some places like Red Piano. Or the show at Cheri's. There's also a show at L'Escargot in Phillipsburg but I'm not sure if it's a dinner show.
The Herald Newspaper (available online) lists what going on---I think it's in Thursday's edition.
About TV---Where are you staying? We stay at Divi on occasion and they have the full cable channels. When we stay at Grand Case Beach Club in Grand Case there's more than one English channel but we find the French one amusing. And watching it made lead to "other evening activities" that married (and not) couples indulge in.
There's a cinema complex in Simpson Bay. I believe there's bowling. And there must be dancing on the island. Someone is sure to post where.
We are in our late 60's-70's and have being going to SXM since 1979. We have always enjoyed music venues. We used to stay out late, drinking, but as the years passed we find our entertainment is dinner on the French side and drive ---or walk-- back to our unit to sleep. In all those years we have never spent much time on the beaches or in casinos. We rent a car tour the island to see what's new, pick out where we will dine each evening, catch the late afternoon sun and sunset before going back out to dine. Certain evenings we watch the TV shows we've become addicted to. We find the air makes us sleepy and we go to bed by 11 after we've had a great meal. Every visit we say were going to Red Piano and never make it .
If you love to relax on the beach you'll find "sand gravity" sets in and you don't want to to much more.
