Wife and I will be visiting OB shortly for a few weeks. She'd like to bring a certain "toy" but is afraid they'd discover it at customs and it would be embarrassing. Any ideas?

Wow thought I was on another board for a minute. There are a couple of stores in SXM that sell that stuff. One is in Simpson Bay called Treasure chest or something like that

They can 'discover' it all they want but it isn't illegal nor can they confiscate it for any reason. You won't be the first people to be traveling with 'items'. They have seen them many times before. Don't worry about any embarrassment. Also, you will have no customs until you return to the United States. Have fun. Wayne <><

Just put it in the suitcase. It is a legal item and is not a problem.

Bring it with you. My guess is that every third piece of luggage has something similar in it.

We bring a couple of toys every trip (carry on) No big deal
If they inspect, still no big deal. Nothing they haven't seen before, or probably use themselves

If discovered she won't be asked if the trip is for business or pleasure <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />

If you do take the batteries out make sure you put some tape over the contacts to protect them from shorting out and overheating. I believe there is some rule about having loose or not properly packaged batteries in the TSA guidelines. I have used the blue masking tape used for paint trim work because I found you can reuse it on the return trip.
