We thought we 'd like to go to Larosa II for our last night in SXM next Friday night. Never been there. What are your favorites? I can 't get into a menu on their website. Thanks.

In the end, we went to Antoine's in Philipsburgh and had a fabulous meal, wonderful service, and a view of a closeby ship maneuvering around to leave, ablaze with thousands of twinkling lights. A wonderful conclusion to a terrific 3 1/2 weeks in glorius SXM! Thanks, everyone, for your ideas.

Ah, one of my very favorite places!! I hope they were doing lots of business as I know the early winter was slow and many are unwilling to drive into town at night. The valet parking makes it so easy......

I'd say they were 2/3 filled. Jean Pierre was most friendly and attentive, and everyone there seemed to be enjoying themselves. I don't know why this restaurant hasn't been better publicized. It's a great spot, parking is valet, and the food and service are always good to excellent. Hope he tries to bring in a larger crowd by some clever P.R. That would help his business immensely.

Antoine's is one of our favorites as well. I think we went twice this last vacation, one time almost no one was there, the next time it was packed, but both times, excellent service and food.

Good to know the season is being kind to them. We were there in December and one evening they were relatively busy but the other night we were the only diners, and in fact, Jean Pierre actually joined us and had his dinner while we all chatted. (I assured him the food was pretty good there, a little on the pricey side but you get what you pay for, right?.... ) It was perhaps one of the longest in time spent of all our island dinners ever but also one of the very nicest in that, not only did we enjoy the good food and service, but we really got to catch up on both our families and a lot of island things I might otherwise not have learned. We did not get to see Chef Pierre either evening - I believe he was not well during the time we were on the island. Did you see him while you were there and if so, hopefully all is good with both of them? We will definitely be seeing them both in the Spring.
