Arriving tomorrow and renting a car from them. I was informed they will place an $800 hold on my credit card. Is this normal? Can anyone share their experience with Europcar? Getting nervous. Thanks!

We rented from Hertz two Summers ago and they put a hold on our card (forget the amount) back then, which surprised me at the time. I guess they want to be sure there is room on the card to cover any minor damages incurred upon the cars return. Seems it happens to others well... see this thread for more... I have never used them in SXM, (always Kenny's), but we used them last year in Italy. Reserved from the States, picked up the car at the Rome airport and returned car 2 weeks later at a spot on the outskirts of Rome. Real easy and very good service. Got just what we ask for, at the price quoted, without any BS. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" /> (Their service was almost as good as Lesley's) They did put a hold on the CC.
