I happened to check our UA reservations from the West Coast to SXM via EWR for Oct-Nov early this morning, and found they cancelled their Sunday flight into SXM for Oct 25, and their return flight on Friday, November 13. We were able to change our flight and keep the same arrival day switching to USAir, but we are leaving a day later on November 14 via United. This was a two hour telephone call, mainly due to connections with the West Coast, and the United Supervisor was difficult to understand. If you have a reservation with United to SXM via EWR, you might check to make sure they have not changed. (I need some aspirin right now!)

For much of this summer, United will only fly Saturdays from EWR.

United's strategy with November flights has changed in each of the last three years. United posts their flights some 300+ days in advance and last year the initial posting had two flights on Saturday and Sunday in November. And one of the flights was less than the other. Eventually they eliminated the lower cost flights and settled on one per day. The year before they had two flights on Saturday. In previous years they used 757's then switched to 737's and everyone's seats were all changed. My point is they seem to change strategies alot on November flights. So perhaps they will reinstate the flights in the next few weeks.

Hi I checked my non stop flight from Newerk Nj to sxm on October 24, 2015 and found out they cancelled the flight and told me they wouldn't be flying out of newerk non stop any more. They offered me a flight to Miami ...then booked us on a flight to sxm on American..the only nreason I accepted was because the round trip flight stayed at $423 R/T..The flight back stayed the same..Non stop back to Newerk on October 31.

Weird that they wouldn't be flying nonstop from EWR but were flying back non stop. Has to be the schedule is too far out for them to lock on demand.
Edit:
Looks like they dropped weekend nonstop service for September / Oct this year but still have full nonstop weekend service in Nov onward.

Same into St Thomas. Pretty much don't start direct until mid November. A few years back they started mid October. They also have been stopping them earlier is the late spring too

My husband and I use our Fri-Fri timeshares but this year are not using it and flying out instead on a Sat. I just checked for May Friday flights and there are no flights scheduled. I think that's the first time I can remember in almost 30 years that there wasn't a Friday flight. We usually flew Continental and now United. Miss my CO flights. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/cry.gif" alt="" />

United just canceled my Sunday 11/8/15 flight and rebooked me for the Saturday flight. My timeshare is Sunday to Sunday with nowhere to stay on the day we land!

IF you can find another flight for a reasonable price that fits your needs, remember that you can cancel and get ALL your money back and re-book with someone else.

The only good thing about it is that it is far enough in advance that maybe you can find something else that you can accept.

Yes, we will need a toddy. I am wondering if we end up leaving on United as revised or another version. Good news though, a 15 minute turn around time giving the OK for the extra night.

I feel lucky (if you can call this lucky) when I checked my itinerary, they were in the middle of making the UA SXM schedule change. At least we had a few decent alternate choices available. It took me however, almost two hours of pushing to arrive at that point.

It is difficult these days to get things booked ahead of time, as airlines often change their schedules. YOu really have to do your 'due diligence' and check your flights pretty often!

Absolutely Carol. I check my flights at least once week. It is part of my early morning computer routine.

I booked my May flights back in June. So far no changes other than 5-10 minutes on one flight.

I usually have good luck with AA from Miami but AA from the NY area seems to be rescheduled a lot, and all the other carriers from Florida seem to be all over the place with schedule changes..

We ended using our AA miles for US Air first class tickets at 60,000 RT each. Couldn't pass it up. 10:10pm red eye out of SEA to CLT then arrive SXM on Saturday 11:25am. One day return. Leave 2:25 SXM to CLT to PHX to SEA at 1:30 am. Long day but after four weeks who cares.

I got messed around by United too. Had a flight on Oct 24 from Chicago to SXM through Newark. They cancelled the flight from EWR to SXM. Wanted to replace it with a flight to Panama City with a travel time of over 24 hrs.
If you're booked on United, check your reservations...

Glad I read this post and thank you for posting this info. So we also were on this flight (Oct. 24th. BOS-NEW_SXM), but opted to take the refund, and book direct non-stop BOS to SXM with JB, for only $11.20. Yes you read that right, $11.20, but also used some accumulated points. Just wish these airlines would stop playing with us consumers. Return flight on the 7th of Nov. with United was slightly changed, as it is now leaving at 3:25 instead of at 3:10 pm. Keeping that flight for the time being unless they change it more or cancel it completely.

United stinks!! So do most other airlines. Don't they have any consideration that most travelers have already booked hotel rooms, they just go and schedule you for another days flight? They do what suits them, they gotchya.

Nobody likes schedule changes. It appears to me that United is pulling out of SXM.
The only recourse that we have is to cancel the flights.
We booked our October flight to SXM on United using miles. After staying at our condo at Les Balcons, we're going to BVI for a few days and then leaving from St. Thomas back to Chicago. Our original flight on that leg was a non-stop, then about a month ago, they changed it to one stop in Washington, and then recently changed the STT to IAD time to an hour later which meant that we arrived in Washington at 6:47 pm and left for Chicago at 6:30 pm.
