A recent newsletter from a contributor who is currently on the island indicated there is almost NO difference between the Dutch and French side currently. The approx. price is around $4.00/gallon

Watch the conversion rate. On the Dutch side $10 US will get you around 17.50 NAF, which is how the pump will display.

Erich S. Kranz...if you see this, please chime in with what you had in your latest newsletter. Sorry, I deleted mine after reading it.

From my newsletter last Sunday:

Gas is still cheaper on the Dutch side. They are charging about 1.75 NFl per liter and offering an exchange rate of 1.75 NAFl per dollar, essentially $1.00 per liter, if, and it should be a big IF, they do the exchange rate correctly. Short of carrying a calculator, a ten dollar bill is 17.50 NAFl which is 10 liters or about 2.6 gallons. The tanks on small cars are about 10 gallons, so $40 should fill a small tank. Thirty dollars would be 52.5 NAFl, and get you almost 8 gallons. While the Dutch side is cheaper, Cadisco is selling gas at a few pennies over a dollar at their Orient and Marigot stations where they do one to one on the euro. Thus, your savings on a full tank of gas might be a quarter. Other stations on the French side are selling gas for 90 to 95 euro cents, but not doing one to one, so at 1.15 $/€ they are no bargain either and there is always the conversion problem.

All the newsletters are on my site. You can also sign up if you go there.

Drove by Cadisco in Sandy Ground yesterday, and their "essence" is now .99 per liter.

Thanks Erich. I tried to access the newsletter from your site but must not have been going about it the right way. I knew you gave a good description of the situation.

Thanks again.
