I put together a list gleaned from this board for our pending trip to the BVI. We'll be up near the Baths in a cottage, with a car. I like to have a short list handy, and be spontaneous, but at least with a clue, as we drive around and see the sights. Here's my list:

Top Of the Baths, great view
Mine Shaft Café, Best Sunset view…
Fat Virgin’s Café, Conch Fritters
Hog Heaven, Conch Fritters, BBQ
Mad Dog Bar, near our place
Mermaids, by the ferry

We like to get take out from island pot. Love the chicken, ribs and scalloped potatoes. Take it back to guavaberry and eat on our deck.

List looks good. Cocomaya is probably most expensive of them all. Check out Rock Cafe for really good pizza.

Also you cannot drive to Fat Virgins.

You can catch the free ferry to Saba Rock from Leverick Bay. Great fish tacos and Mojitos, although Jumbies' fish tacos rank right up there, too. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/dine.gif" alt="" />

Here are some suggestions for you to consider from our trip this past October.

Saba Rock - Went for happy hour and dinner. Had grilled Mahi and Grilled Yellowtail - both were excellent. Nice salad bar came with the meals. Short ferry ride. Don't miss the feeding of the tarpon at happy hour. The gift shop had some interesting things - my hubby enjoyed seeing all the old boat motors.

Saucez - Across the street from Bucks and yacht harbor. We got carryout and took it back to our villa so we could enjoy the view from our porch. Had stewed mutton and dove pork. They have multiple choices of side dishes - we had rice, okra and spinach. The food was very tasty, especially the pork.

Bath and Turtle - We got carry out meals from here several times. We had mahi (very good), coconut curry shrimp (excellent), curry chicken (yummy), tomato pumpkin soup (delicious).

M&M bakery has really good macaroons and other pastries.

Is Mermaids new? We've been to VG lots of times -- most recently in April 2014 -- and I don't recall seeing it?

Mermaids is just past Cocomaya on the right. Have had lunch or drinks there several times. Lovely outlook, but not sure I would go there for dinner. I think it has had some renovations in past year?

Mermaids has good food with a DR influence. You can't beat the location and the beer is cold.

M&M Bakery has no sign but it also has great roasted chickens for take-out, available every night after 6:30 pm.

The Rock Cafe would be a good choice for dinner.

Don't forget Dixies for fried chicken and excellent rotis

We are heading down this week so I appreciate this thread. We'll be there 10 nights and will go out a lot. I am half watching the super bowl as I am thinking about VG.

Any recent thoughts on the Mine Shaft? We enjoyed a meal there 6 years ago.

Is Mermaids the place were the bathrooms are in that abandoned hotel? I remember a decent lunch there if it's the same place of my memory.

How do we find M&M if they don't have a sign? last trip we had grand plans of cooking at the villa or getting take out but ended up eating out every night. We would enjoy staying in a night or two if we can find solid take out.

Fat Virgin and Leverick (2 or 3 times between Beans, Jumby show and upstairs) are definately on the list.

Let me second the "How do I find M&M if there is no sign?" question.

Should have been on VG tonight, but there was a light dusting of snow here in Chicago and we are delayed 24 hours.

Shitty death, this both sucks and blows.

We had a good breakfast at Fischer's Cove and would go back...you sit out on a screened and covered porch and right on the beach..view is nice (above the beach to be more accurate!)

how to find M&Ms, locally named the vampire bakery because it's open unusual hours, this name is not to be used in the company of the bakery, its a local thing. with your back to the spanishtown harbour, turn right and walk until you are sure you've gone astray, just about then, you'll see a gas station/garage on the right, i think it was called noco, not sure, immediately across or close to immediately across, from the gas station is a laneway that looks like it's to someone's home, take it, you will past many local houses and then nothing, you will again think you have gone wrong and then a nondescript building will appear on the right side of the lane and that's it, walk in and call for the baker if no one is at the small counter, the best bread, donuts, patties and whole cooked chickens! if unsure, we reconfirm with a shop owner, they all know the directions

What's happened with Giorgio's? I knew that the "original" was buried, but I thought there was a new one at Rock Cafe.

Giorgio's is closed. He is currently running a small restaurant at Lambert Beach (pretty sure) on Tortola.
Canadiangirrl, I think you mean the NAPA Auto Parts store, not a gas station.
The road is directly across the street, unmarked. The bakery is in a white building on your right. It's easy to find at night because they have lots of lights on. It's worth the effort.

I live in the Chicago area and we had 17 inches of snow.

While on the subject of where to eat on VG, if you were heading back to Leverick marina from a morning at the Baths in a rental car, where would you take a group of college age kids for lunch? Top of the Baths? Hog Heaven? Someplace else?
I found the menu for Top of the Baths online; can't fine one for Hog Heaven.

Both would be GREAT choices......as you know....Top of the Baths has a pool and some shops for those that lose interest in lunch and I haven't had a bad meal there. And, you could just tell everyone to meet up there and if others want to stay at the baths a little longer it becomes a non-issue since you're right there anyways....no one is rushed that way. I haven't had anything bad at Hog Heaven either but I've read other folks on here that haven't been so lucky....and the view cannot be beat at Hog Heaven!

Both. Top of the Baths for lunch. Pool to cool off in while you wait for lunch plus an incredible view. Then on the way back to Leverick, stop at Hog Heaven and enjoy some drinks and the view. Maybe in-between, stop at the trailhead to Gorda Peak and take them on a short hike to the mountain top.

M&M'S: Go to Guavaberry Spring Bay web page and click on island info. There is a VG map link with north and south sound info. On the South side the map shows not just roads, but restaurant locations, gift shop locations, gas stations, and...how to find M&M...which is our fav for roast chicken, etc. So please, check it out, and you can even print out the entire map of VG with all of the go to places. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/circle.gif" alt="" />

Just got back from 8 days on Island Fun from Captains Compass.
Hog Heaven was the hit of the entire trip, hands down. Food was great, views were wonderful and the staff a load of fun. This is on my list every time from now on.

We waited for over an hour for conch fritters at Hog Heaven in December. When we said something about the long wait, we had them in 15 minutes. I think they had forgotten about the order. When we finally received them they were raw inside. Couldn't eat them.
But, I will say the view is awesome!

We would never wait an hour for anything in any restaurant.
