Here's a new one...
Yesterday, driving around Pockwood.. the boys had a radar speed trap set up
I kid you not
2 officers...a radar gun that looked like it was from the 50's... I am not kidding you
and... 2 officers on really nice high powered motorbikes...I guess in case you did not stop
That was an entertaining moment... I almost wanted to stop and chat with them
but...no....

3..maybe 4 yrs ago.. I saw them trying this in town, across from the Delta station.... I thought they gave up on the idea... obviously not

I've never seen police motorbikes in the BVI. Do they have special dispensation to go above the 125cc limit?

I guarantee the 2 bikes that zipped past me going the other way ... were not silly little 125's
It was too fast to see... but those wheels looked big enough to be Hogs...

Out of curiosity, what IS the speed limit? I wasn't aware there was one observing how the locals drive and I don't believe I have ever seen a speed limit sign.

There is (or was) a 25 mph sign on the drag strip to West End. I believe the locals understand any speed limit posting to be "per wheel". Just do the math. Enforcement seems to confirm that theory too.

My favorite is the speed limit sign in Anegada. The large majority of them are 85 (kmh) that someone has taken what appears to be white tape to change them to 35.

No way. I dont think that would be acceptable during this century. And I hope I'm not wrong. They have tried, and failed, to get us to use various metric systems over the years. Metric weights are now acceptable and often interchangeable with pounds and ounces, and also some fluids. We have to buy wood, etc in metric lengths , but our miles are sacrosanct.

"Dad - what do you mean, when you say - one inch ?"
(((sigh)))

Goes together with watching my youngest stare at a rotary phone... finally asking me... How does it work ?
Then, she stuck her fingers in the individual holes... without moving the dial....
Sometimes... instructions we give, are not exactly clear to another generation....

Am I the only one feeling old, once I'm finished laughing ?

In Puerto Rico gas is sold by the Liter, highway markers are in Kilometers, Speed limits are MPH and distances from one town to another are in Kilometers.

I am curious to know if they write a speeding citation to someone who was " bahn heah " ?

In the late 90s there were rumours of cops using a radar gun but on further inspection it was revealed to be a hairdryer they were pointing at passing motorists. Everyone did slow down.

Speaking of weird... so I walk into the Custom's house in JVD to clear into the BRITISH Virgin Islands. Who's picture do I see on the wall? Not The Queen. Not the Prime Minister. President Obama! WTH?
