Here are a just a couple of pictures. Did a quick file resize and compression to get them up on the bb. Will do a better job when all done.

The small pictures here can be clicked on and bring up the larger picture. The larger pictures run from 250k to 500k in size.

This of course is an elephant:

This is a hippo that is not happy:

A couple of these are going to make the final cut, but you would not believe some of the others. Going to try to get the final cut down to say something in the range of 500 or so.

Africa is truely amazing, it is hard to explain and the photos only show part of it so far. Hopefully we can do more with the other photos and the trip report to give a better idea of what Africa has to offer.

Absolutely breathtaking. The colors of Africa are so vivid and pure. Can't wait for the next installment. Thank you for sharing.

I feel truly blessed to have been there and experienced this place in person. I took virtually all the pictures, but for the most part, the camera took the pictures and I pushed the button. A Nikon D70 camera is truly much smarter than I am...

Well, good job Carol!!! Of course, I find it even more amazing that you could take such beautiful shots while hiding behind the tour guide!

Hi Carol and Eric,

Those sunsets are something, hey? So glad you enjoyed Africa...as we knew you would. We were truly blessed to have lived there.
We're itching to read your report. Looks like the Vic Falls picture was taken on the Zambia side. Did you see them from the other side at all?
Jetlag is another story!

No, we did not go to the Zim side of the falls. We could have done a special visa to go there, but decided, politically, we didn't want to go to Zim. Hopefully, soon we will be rid of the old man and next time we visit Africa, we'll visit..

Great photos. I, like you, found it's easy to be a great photographer when taking pictures of such beautiful scenery. So far, Africa has been the only destination whose images haven't faded the least in my mind. I think you'll find the same. Your pictures, though, only make me crave going back all the more.

Awesome photo's! What an experience that must have been going to Africa. Can't wait to hear all about it. Looking forward to your report.

Dane--I think the reason why the images don't fade away in your mind is because they are just so vivid and so HUGE to begin with! I hope we will be able to return some day also.. We spent a good part of today looking at our pictures and our video. When we ever get the pictures together and the trip report finished, it will be quite a collection!

I have been blessed to see some of this there too. The sunsets are breath taking. Sunsets are great in St. Maarten, but in Africa they are truly amazing.

I only saw some lions while there. Very nice pictures--- makes me want to go back again.

p.s. just saw on Zimnews that the police burned a number of villagers shacks on the way to the falls. Hope that didn't affect you.

We were never in Zimbawbwe. We stayed on the Zambian side of the falls, about 20 miles away, and drove to the falls one day.

Thanks for the nice words. The trip report will be a while, considering I leave for the caribbean on Thursday for a week... It's a tough job, but somebody's got to do it!

Just curious on how much it would cost for one to vacation there. I guess you would want to spend at least 10 days.

We will list everything in the trip report and other options that are available. Part of it depends on where you stay and how you get around between the places. We only did air transfers (Cesnas) between the camps, no ground transportation at all. Also one of the camps was probably one of the most expensive camps in Botswana at the time of our booking (and yes it was worth it).

I think 10 days is a min. number of days. It takes min. of one full day travel in each direction. On our return home, from the camp to the house -- we traveled actually 20 hours in the air flying -- that is not taxi on the runways, checkin or anything, but actual flying. The return home was 4 different planes. Cesna from the camp to a jet (from Maun to JoBerg) to an airbus to London and then an airbus to Dulles.

So trying to do it in less than 10 days could be done, but not sure that I would want to do it, with that kind of travel and the time change and jet lag also.

Hi Carol & Eric

Welcome back.

Great pictures, looking forward to seeing more and a trip report.
That is as close as I will get to a safari.

(Thanks for the nice words. The trip report will be a while, considering I leave for the Caribbean on Thursday for a week... It's a tough job, but somebody's got to do it!)

What’s this off on vacation again without telling us bout the Safari, what a revolting development this is? (From an old TV show in the 50s). Have a great time in BVI.

Carol is the only back back out on the road. She took the laptop to work on the trip report and start of the bvi trip report also. Of course with all of the parties, etc, don't know how much she will get done.
