I've posted about our discouragement with our timeshare at PDP and that we no longer be staying there. I found a tremendous deal at Maho (is it the best place? - no, but for $847 (AI) for the week for 2- I couldn't pass it up). My question is - I'm reading some reviews that are not so good. My husband says if it's really bad - we'll just leave and go somewhere else. What are the chances of finding a place to stay while we're already there!! We're going in May (9-16), so it's low season. I'm hoping that we'll be so happy to be out of our crappy, depressing room at PDP; that it'll look like the Ritz, but you never know...

May is low season. If necessary, you should be able to find someplace else to stay. I don't know that you would get any money back from Maho though?

We don't actually pay until we get on island. This is going to be such a different experience for us. We've stayed in timeshares for most of the 30 years we've been going to SXM. Oh well - I guess change is good.

You will most likely have to give them a credit card to check in, at which point they may well run it for the weekly charge...

We have met plenty of people staying at Maho over the last couple of years...and everyone loves it. for the price you are paying......with everything included, I bet you will have a GREAT time. The bartenders over there make a great drink....the food is decent and plentiful...and when the beach is usuable...it's a great spot. and......the biggest plus is that there is no place better to spend the evenings than in Maho!!! Go...enjoy, and don't worry about a thing.

How many nights does that price cover? I'm not finding anything near that unless you are just staying for a few days. Would you tell me which site you booked it on? I would love to stay there but not paying 250-350 a night. We just can't eat or drink that much.

You're clearly not trying hard enough.

The poster said she's booked for a week for two at that price all inclusive. I imagine you might find less costly rentals, perhaps a tent on the beach somewhere, but you still need to eat......but I do think she booked an introductory special for the property in question. But I could be wrong about that.

Respectfully,

pat

I booked last June. It is for a week. I couldn't believe the price so I called the hotel and booking.com to confirm. Within a month after booking it had almost doubled. I was sure it had to be an error but luckily for us it wasn't. I love looking for deals!

Great price for 2 even if it is May. We've stayed twice, it's OK, the older part is beng refurbished into the Ocean Point, a hotel within a hotel. The Maho is now just the tower. The lower rooms are OK, you might have a view out the back, but since it's May you might be able to get an upgrade - higher level facing the pool and water.
If you booked thru booking.com, check the cancellation terms, you wil have given a cc to book, you pay when you leave, but if you cancel x days in advance then you will be charged I believe.

Rent a car, use the hotel as a home base and have fun. Sheryl at the swim up bar is fun
