Hello,

We are visiting SXM for the first time at the end of February. We're staying in Orient Beach area and figured we'd be set exploring beaches during the day and dining in, Orient and Grand Case for the most part. However, I saw a post on the captioned and wondered if any one can comment on Thursday nights in Marigot. Are there nice restaurants near the Marina. I noticed that shops would stay open on Thursday evenings. Are there nice/interesting shops nearby? It's not a long drive so would be willing to visit to expand our exploration of the island.

Thanks for any help you can offer a newbie.

So glad they are doing Thursday nights again this year. The Marina Royale has some wonderful restaurants along the Marina. Belle Epoch is a favorite as well as Tropicana. With the Euro low, perhaps more people will venture over to Marigot for dinner these days.

There are several very good restaurants in the Marina. plus a few shops that stay open later on Thursday nights. Although it is not as busy as it was 15 years ago, (mostly due to the fall in the dollar vs Euro since then = fewer tourists coming over from the Dutch side) it's better than it has been more recently. There's live entertainment and a festive atmosphere. Try it!

I hope it continues for awhile. We keep missing it each year.
It was such a fun night when they always had it.
There use to be a little Italian shop with Murano glass that closed.:( The owners were so nice.
I hope things pick up there! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Sad.gif" alt="" />

Yes, they said they were going back. We enjoyed spending time with them before dinner.
