I know they are different so still have to pick one up. Some of the sites say sometime the England adapter is used also.

Talking about charging our batteries, so am wondering how many I should worry about getting. Have never tried to charge stuff from a generator before, so don't know if it takes longer/shorter or the same? Will have multiple things that will need to be charged -- planning on taking several batteries for the different equipment, but of course they all take their own seperate chargers -- that's always the way.

And in the camps are you limited to the number of things that you can charge at any particular point? That would limit the number of adapters needed. Have to double check, but think all of the chargers that I will be dealing with are 240 volt option built in so that helps in not having to deal with a converter also, but might take one regardless.

Eric, you shouldn't need a power strip, just a 3 prog adapter. I think you will be surprised how long the batteries last. On my Canon DSLR I recharge about every 1000 shots or so.

Ok, know what you mean. We are turning off all of the un-needed functions of the camera and the camcorder. Will be taking along another battery for each anyway. We are now considering the laptop since the weight increase, and that would need to be charged daily even if I would take along another battery. Have not completely decided about the laptop yet.

Eric, unrelated, but since you mentioned the camcorder. At night you probably will not need to use the night shot switch on the camera. But know how to turn it off and on.

Makes you wonder what items did Dr. Livingston thinking about packing for his journey across Africa?

Perhaps you should consider some Sherpas.

In South Africa you definitely need the adapter for there and it is large! In Botswana the British one worked. In any of the upscale places - like Mombo- they should have adapters for you to borrow. The electricity coming out of the generators is the same as when you are in town. Everything is in the 220-240 volt range.

That and he had all kinds of people to haul things and did not have to worry about the weight limit.

The camcorder was shipped today, so should get it by the weekend. Gives me a couple of weeks to play around with it to see what buttons I really need to learn. Have a real old camcorder, but knew it would not do the job. So got a new one that was rated very well in the price range -- ebay sometimes is a good thing! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Laugh.gif" alt="" />
