My Godson and his GF are thinking about staying here. Has anyone stayed here? We were at Royal Islander which is next door and it looks nice. I hear it is all inclusive. I explained that may not be the way to go but I am trying to find some reviews on it. I've been to Trip Advisor but nothing beats hearing from other TTOLers.

Ocean Point is brand new. Don't know if it is even open yet. It is supposedly going to be a more exclusive resort and very upscale. He may want to check the Sonesta Maho, which is the front building.

It is open. It's not 100% operational yet, though. Several pools are not available as promised and I believe some restaurants are not yet open. I don't think the upper rooms are completed either. I know a lot of folks staying at Maho are complaining that they've had amenities taken away from them for the OP guests. There is only one pool available now and they are using The Palms restaurant as both the grill for lunch and then change the menu to ala carte for dinner, but it's still the same restaurant. They've also said that OP guests get preferential seating at the restaurants while Maho guests have to wait. We booked Maho for May after staying many years in a timeshare, so I'm hoping our expectations are less and we won't be disappointed. We figure we'll probably eat our dinners out at least half of our stay anyway. I hope they are not driving their Maho regulars away by trying to just keep their OP guests happy.

We didn't stay there but according to their Facebook page, all of the amenities at Ocean Point are competed. The new restaurant Azul opened May 20th, so Sonesta Maho guests should have their Point Restaurant back (which was relocated to the Palms Grill while Azul was being built). The only thing Maho guests really lost is the Ocean Point pool which was closed to them prior to the renovations.

We stayed at OP for our last night in early Feb. We had booked on line in the fall, great price, had stayed at the Sonesta previously so had a basis for comparison As an aside the good news for the Sonesta Maho is the bkfast buffet room and stations are nicely cleaned up and the area handles the reduced room count way better at breakfast time. Our OP room was new and very nice. The Azul was not open, nor the new infinity pool at the end, but I did walk around that area, will be nice. The upper pool area is cleaned up and looks good. The Point was renamed the Azul when we were there, food was good. There was construction happening, but it did not cause any issues with noise or mess. Would we go again?, no we have found other places to stay and treat the entire island as our all inclusive Firat time and I had the budget?, maybe, but I would tend to get "off the reservation" during the day and explore the beaches and resto's. I would also have a dinner across the road at Moulin Fou

If only going for 4 days and you just want to chill and your price is good I would take it Our experience was - When you approach the hotel, there is an outside desk, they take you by golf cart to the OP lobby, nicely redone with a lobby bar. What struck us was how hard the staff tried to be polite, smile and be helpful, that was not always the case in years gone by. What's a little awkward is the Maho and OP are on the same site, so OP can walk anywhere, the Maho cannot go past the OP security, but it did not bother us. Mullet is an easy walk if the beach area is missing, which it can be sometimes. Henry – red ball cap is the “beach boy” who will get you chairs and umbrella if you sit on the beach, nice to chat with. Cheryl is tending the bar at the Palm Grill – used to do the swim up bar and Ramone is working the OP bar Would like to hear your comments on the OP finished product if you go J&B

Sorry you lost out on the good price. Are you still not going to rent a car, at Cupecoy Beach Club?

not sure, Mullet is our favorite beach, so easy walk, the unit is ocean front, and they have a little pool bar there plus many dining options across the street, may wing it, buses stop right outside for the AUC, so who knows!!!

I don't like walking after night, even short distances. It will be a different trip for you, but fun, I'm sure.
