We'll have a number of wedding guests converging on Saba and Leverick in early July and we want to make sure everyone stays happy and entertained (hard to believe that would be a problem in the islands, but. . . let's just say it might be). Does anyone have recommendations for (1) things to do on Saba/Leverick, and (2) land based day trips from those locations? The Baths, obviously, with a stop at Hogs Heaven on the way back, but beyond that we're open to any and all suggestions. We've always been boat, rather than land based, so we really don't know all the options.
That aside, in a bit of funny timing, we had an especially terrible case of DIF today and then our new cruising guide arrived in the mail. Made our day.

Early July can be very busy in North Sound with the Puerto Rican Navy converging over the 4th. They typically take up a number of rooms at Saba Rock and all the dock space... Our favorite weekends at the Rock include taking the ferry to the Bitter End and hiking from there, ferry to Prickly Pear, snorkel circumnavigation of Saba Rock and just sitting in the garden reading.

We're land based on VG in April. Is there a ferry between Sandbox and VG?

And is the Sandbox open on a regular basis these days? During a couple of our trips they seemed to open up only for group events.

They were open in May last year when we went over on a Tuesday during the Dinghy Pub Crawl.

Bravura does day sails from Leverick and sunset cruises - all catered. Great boat and Captain. I've neve bern to the Sand Box, even tough we look directly at it from our home. Every time we have sailed by, it has been closed. I was once told that you could call them and they would ferry you over and back. Not sure if they are still doing that. The beaches on the other side of Prickley Pear are beautiful and the snorkeling is very interesting.

We have watched the sandbox these past two weeks and it seems to be open when the boutique cruise ships are in. The ship ferries guests there and BEYC.
