Interested in going to the new Cugini restaurant in Simpson Bay. Does anyone know if they have music entertainment every night and if it's loud so that it interferes with conversation? Can't stand having to shout over music while dining. Thanks.

We were there in Nov. Enjoyed it so much, went back 3 times. We found the music very entertaining (1 man and and a keyboard). Played lots of Dean Martin, Franks Sinatra and some great italian songs. Did not interrupt our conversations at all. He seemed to go with the crowd.

We were there in early December, and while the music was pleasant, we felt it was over-whelming, and sadly, we found ourselves straining to enjoy the dinner conversation with island friends. The food was very good and the pizza making side of the business looked like it was being well enjoyed by diners in house and it appeared there were many there doing takeout, too.

We were there earlier in the week. Food was very good. They had a singer who played a keyboard. Volume did not limit conversation.

Would love to go in March and listen to the music while dining. As the orginal poster asked "Does anyone know if they have music entertainment every night"

No, this is where several restaurants have been in recent times, close to La Suciere, it's where Dave and Adrianna of Happy Hour Tours were for a while in Simpson Bay, and by the Fed Ex, I think it is?

My best landmarks for Cugini's, coming from Maho/airport direction is look for the Fedex sign and turn left into the small parking lot just before the gelato place. If you go by that, turn around and try again, concentrating harder this time....

Yes, we use FedEx and Carousel as our landmarks for it. We were going to try it on this last visit, but it was very crowded. Next time.

Unless something has changed since December, Panlaan, a Thai restaurant, is where 3 Palms was. It's been there for about three years.

Panlaan is behind the Caribbean Bank and has never been where Three Palms was located. That location was Deans and now is a new restaurant called MAITO.

No, MOST recently where Three Palms was, was Dean's Steakhouse. I actually don't know what was there before that, didn't think it was Panlaan, but I never ate there, so I don't really know where it was. Whatever the name is supposed to be of that new Italian restaurant that someone posted about, it is not open yet. The sign out front still said Dean's Steakhouse as of December 30, but I understand that sign is now down.

Sorry! I have always thought that Three Palms was where Panlaan is now. My apologies for the misinformation!!

I actually don't know where Panlaan is now, but I THINK it's closer to the bridge? Where Three Palms was, is where Peg Leg was originally, when Neil owned it.

That's before my time, Carol, so I don't really know. Panlaan is on the lagoon, behind the Caribbean Bank, as Elizabeth said. For some reason that's where I thought Three Palms was.

Get there early and sit at the sides; quieter there. Only one guy, very nice though. Food is great & reasonable.

Sorry, I missed seeing Elizabeth's post. Three Palms, then Dean's, was in the shopping center where Scarlet and the Dominos and the Adult Toy Box, or whatever it's called, is.

You're absolutely right, Patty! I knew that; just got the two restaurants confused

Cugini-formerly Kookamonga next to Fed Ex and LeSucriere as other said. Cugini was formerly located in marigot on the marina. Good food but I'd suggest not letting him make "something special for you" unless you're prepared to pay extra
Maito-formerly Dean's, Three Palms, the original Peg Leg
not open yet One of the managers went back to Italy. some friction there. I stopped by about 10 days ago and it was totally in disarray. Needed a lot of work back then but from the Facebook pics, looks like they've progressed somewhat. Haven't seen any indication of their opening. Missing lots of "high season" time. Wish them all the best. We need more good Italian restaurants on the island especially in Simpson Bay area
