That was rich. I was going over our SXM trip notes and thought I'd check our flights. I've received several "your flight has changed" notifications over the past few months for a trip we're taking in early May down to Orlando to see our daughter, and thought I was on top of them all. I discovered our direct for PHL to SXM on a Saturday later in May was changed to a 1 stop in Miami. We have about 45 minutes from landing to the MIA - SXM plane departs the gate. I'm hoping the gates are close. Our direct flight home two weeks later in June is still a direct flight.
Anyone ever have that happen?
Regardless, we're very stoked to be going back again this year. Anyone else going May 24 - June 7?

Lancer--you know if you want, you can cancel and get your money back? Of course, that presupposes you can find something else cheaper or more acceptable. OR call them up and threaten to cancel and see if perhaps they might give you a free upgrade. Couldn't hurt.
As far as someone else having it happen, they do that kind of thing all the time.

When ever I book my flights to SXM I expect to have changes. So far so good with our May 9th red-eye on AA and our June 6th return. Course, anything can happen between now and then.

LANCER - I'll bet you paid more for the direct flight and now they are switching you to a cheaper one. It's rediculous, most of the time I have found that flights with a stop are much cheaper.

Thanks Carol. When I went in I noticed all the flights available from PHL are 1 stop. Evidently they discontinued the directs until June. I did call AA and the rep said "they cancelled your flight so AA booked you on another flight so you could go on your trip." Haha. (not Haha) I called after I received an offer to upgrade to first class, which seemed like a low price, but when I chose my seats I went in the next day and they weren't chosen. So I had to choose those same seats again and then called AA to verify they show the seats are ours on their side. Not sure if that was my bad or what. All that happed when I originally chose the seats was the billing went through for the upgrade. We did have that happen to us before with JetBlue a few years back. Jet Blue cancelled all their flights to SXM and we had to book with AA for a more expensive price. It worked out but was stress trying to deal with all the changes.

OK, I guess they got you, having you pay for an upgrade. Next time, I guess you will know.
