“It’s a wonderful day in the neighborhood” perfectly captured my mindset today. The water in front of Beachside Villas was crystal clear with gentle waves, and it was warm—ideal for a several frolics in the sea. I was a happy camper. It’s a bit chilly when you get out of the water , thanks to a steady breeze, and lack of humidity.

Today was our last full day, and we made the most of it. Our original plan was to swim at Maho and have lunch at Driftwood, but that quickly changed when we saw the crowds. One cruise ship—apparently a massive one, MSC had docked, and it seemed like everyone on board was in the Maho beach vicinity. The area was packed, with people all over the parking lot near the casino, waiting for planes to take off and land. Both the beach, Sunset and Driftwood were bursting with people. Total chaos—not the vibe we were going for.

Looking for something casual with a nice view of the water, and hoping to stay close to BSV for an easy return to the beach, the SMYC felt like the perfect choice. We shared the battered fish fingers with a splash of malt vinegar and a dip in their tartar sauce. Along with a Bloody Mary it was a good lunch. I gave in and ordered the homemade Dutch apple pie I’d been eyeing on a previous visit . I asked for no ice cream but said yes to whipped cream, and it was absolutely delicious—definitely a dessert to share.

It was still early afternoon, so we decided to head back to D’s Beach Bar, grab a couple of chairs, go for another swim, and enjoy a cocktail while we figured out where to have dinner later.

Our last dinner was at Roma in Maho. It was a nice evening with a slight breeze so we chose to eat outside in the area that faces the walkway. There is plenty of trees, plants making that area seem like a private oasis.

Marco was excited to announce the upcoming opening of a new restaurant he’s partnering on, called Catch 21. While the spotlight will be on fresh fish, the menu will also feature steak and several of the popular Italian dishes from Roma. The restaurant will be located in Port de Plaisance and is set to open very soon.

My chicken parm with a side of pasta was exactly what I needed—comforting and delicious. David’s lobster risotto was just as satisfying. I wrapped up the meal with a cappuccino and a cannoli. I really appreciate that their cappuccino is a generous size and brewed just right. The cannoli was filled with a rich, not-too-sweet ricotta cream studded with chocolate chips. The cannoli shell was a standout on its own—crisp, and golden.

That’s a wrap—for now! Thanks for coming along on the journey with us. Until next time!

That apple pie really caught my eye. Marco shared that with me too a few months back. Said he is only partnering in it and will not share his time at that location. Roma is his baby. He sent me a picture of the signage and will be in the location above the Asian restaurant.

Yes, he told us that that was the how he agreed to the venture. He will not be on site at the new restaurant. He has someone very capable that he trust to handle of the day-to-day operations of Catch 21. He needs time to spend with his family, not running back-and-forth between restaurants.
