After five days of extreme sand gravity and staring at the turquoise water it was time to get moving. For the first time in years we didn’t have a car waiting for us at the airport. We had booked into the Royal Islander and knew Maho would have everything we needed or wanted. But now it was time to hit the road. Alain at Triple A did the deal, William came to get us and soon we were mobile.
Our first stop was to see our favourite Head Pineapple Pierre Ferland. We love the guy and his beautiful smile was beaming when we walked in the door. After catching up with news from our respective homes, he brought us over an order of Crab Rangoon, a Pineapple Pete speciality. The little mini wontons were stuffed with crab - no skimping here! The sweet and spicy sauce was perfect for dipping and they were all gone in a flash. Then a Fire Salmon roll arrived complete with the Chef torching it at our table. Another delicious winner! Hubby was tempted to have a lobster but then changed his mind and opted for his second favourite - Pierre’s fish and chips. Usually we get cod and haddock at home but Pierre makes his with grouper fish - wow was it good. And I have to say this. Pierre’s tartar sauce is awesome. He adds dill and what a beautiful compliment it is to the fish. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!
We never get tired of Pierre’s hugs or our favourite dishes at Pineapple Pete. And for us our trip is never complete without a visit, or two, to see the Head Pineapple of SXM!
Crab roll sounds good. Just curious was it real crab or imitation? I've been surprised before with imitation. Not there but other places. Being from the PNW where we get Dungeness, imitation is not acceptable.
