I am looking for a motel, B&B, or condo in St. John within walking distance to Cruz Bay and a sandy beach for 4 people. 2 bedrooms would be great. By walking distance I mean no further than a half mile. Any suggestions? I realize this may not be possible. It's been 30 years since we've been to St. John. Not interest in the Westin.

St. John is more of a villa place. People generally drive to the National Park beaches, which have parking. Check https://stjohn-villarentals.com/ for villas offered by owners in Cruz Bay.

Cinnamon Bay has cabins and eco-tents next to the beach. Great setting, basic amenities. Maho Bay closed. https://www.cinnamonbayvi.com/

Concordia is walkable to Salt Pond Bay. https://concordiaecoresort.com/

Frank Bay, Salomon Bay, and Honeymoon Bay are walkable from Cruz Bay. We like Grande Bay, Lavender Hill, Gallows Point, Battery Hill, Star Villas. Many of these are offered through brokers, AirBnB, VRBO, as well as their own sites. If you are renting a car, make certain that a parking spot is included as parking in Cruz Bay is challenging and expensive.

Thanks, Rick. Lots of good information. I stayed at gallows point, Maho, which doesn’t exist anymore, and Canel, which also doesn’t exist anymore. I didn’t know concordia was near a walkable beach.

Marie, take a look at Google Map or Google Earth and you will see the elevation from Concordia to Salt Pond Bay. Perhaps I should have said hikeable? It is hot and open and water is advised. There is also little shade on Salt Pond Bay. Kiddel Bay and Grootpan Bay are a bite more of a walk, but certainly in the neighborhood. The Cafe reopened recently and we heard great things from friends who have visited.

Caneel Bay is reopened for beach access with free parking.

Enjoy your visit!

Kallaloo and Terrahawk are above Gibney Beach and a short, steep walk. Easy access (not walkable) to Cruz Bay. The price reflexes location.

...the price reflects being able to walk to an almost private beach at Gibney Beach with three parking spaces! We've never paid the price, but do we like the location.

Cheers, RickG
