We spent a wonderful evening with Rosemary and Don celebrating their anniversary, and thank them for taking us out for dinner. They met us at D's Beach Bar and had a cocktail with us before we headed out to La Cigale for dinner in one car. The setting of La Cigale is beautiful as we have never been there before and the conversation was interesting because of their vast experience of their years of visiting SXM. The service was top notch.

I will defer to Rosemary for a report on the culinary experience as she has much more experience with dining at high end restaurants and I will supply the pictures of the night.

I will give you my thoughts on my wife's and my dining experience. My wife and I shared an order of escargot and to be honest they were good, but I've had better. My wife's entree was Roasted Scallops with brown butter on Green Asparagus Risotto and Parmesan Crisps, which she said was very good. I had the Black Angus Beef Tenderloin Filet with mashed potatoes and Sautéed Vegetables. The steak had good flavor, but to be honest, I've had a more tender steak at Jax's and The Palms.
I'll leave it up to Rosemary to review their dinners.

We thank Rosemary and Don for a lovely evening.

I went to La Cigale for the first time last November. Setting was gorgeous, as your pictures show. I, too, was disappointed with the food.

This was our second visit made better by the company of the Whaletales; however, I did not find the food to be as good as our first visit.

While my sea bass was superb, my starter of lobster bisque was disappointing. After breaking through the hard crust covering I found one quarter of a cup of bisque and I never tasted lobster.

Both men at the table chose the beef filet and both claimed cooked perfectly, great flavor but on the tough side. Not a melt in your mouth moment.

Sea scallops were claimed to be good nothing more although they were presented well.

As someone stated before on this forum, chairs are too low for the table. In fact I found mine very low when a leg broke and I found myself on the ground. I’m sorry Whale didn’t get a photo of that!

I was embarrassed that this dinner did not live up to expectations and the hype I gave Whale. Our meal at Be Kool was far superior even though it lacked the view at La Cigale. We will not visit here again.

Sorry to hear that your meals were disappointing. I know how it feels to share a favorite restaurant with friends only to have a subpar experience.

The Grand Marnier soufflé looks divine, though!

I was planning on taking Marc to La Cigale for his upcoming birthday in May as he really likes the beef filet there (and I love the atmosphere). I may have to rethink that.

La Cigale was the first restaurant to tell us with the bill that tip was not included and left a bad feeling that we will not return

Atmosphere and service was very good

It was many years ago and and I vaguely remember ordering their specialties, best recollection that food was good but nothing much different that offered elsewhere

Curious if you traveled through Sandy Ground or over the bridge and back down

Jomarc that photo was not the grand mariner soufflé,
. It was the lobster bisque soup.

Yes, Carol. Great to meet others from TtOL. Lurker contacted us and said they will be at BSV and maybe get together next week.

No. LeCigale is in Nettle Bay. You don’t go as far as Sandy Ground. Though the month I was there I probably drove through Sandy Ground 20 times with zero issues. Also found it cleaner than ever.

We also drove several times through Sandy Ground with no issue but we did it in daylight.
