I’ve done multiple charters in the BVI, but haven’t been back in about 7 years. Is it worth getting the updated cruising guide?

I'd say probably. A lot of things changed with Covid so businesses that were open before might not be now. It's likely that mooring information has changed somewhat as well.

Probably depends on how much pre-planning you want/need to do. There will probably be an updated one on the boat when you get there but that's last minute.

Bingo..plus few folks get rich these days penning works like that ( ask me)..so I think it's great to support someone by buying their guide..remember when we had books?...those weird paper things they had in a place called a" Library"?

the last few years Scott's guides havent had much change and you can get the previous ones used online for cheaper...will be curious to your impressions before and very much after. as we go down frequnetly and went right after Irma the changes to a new equilibrium were extended

In my opinion the only thing that has changed is the ads.

Didn't the Moorings use to give those away "free" with every booking?

Not anymore. Moorings has digital downloadable pdfs for most destinations.
I brought a 2020/21 copy on a trip last month, but never even opened it 🤣
I also found an old copy of the drinking man’s guide, but all the coupons were past date!😢

Whenever we have a new person going on our trips I'll purchase a cruising guide for them since it is a great way to learn about the islands. We've also given copies to folks who are contemplating their first BVI charter.

A bunch of years ago they added waypoints to the guide which was a very useful update.

Agree. Once I figured out how to add the waypoints into the chart plotter, they were very helpful.

The new guide is supposed to arrive tomorrow, so I'll compare it with the two older guides I have.
