The others went to the SMYC for a late breakfast while I hung around Royal Palm. I went out to fill the rental and had planned on going either to the SMYC, The Anchor Bar or somewhere under the radar for lunch. Since we did not do a lot of driving, the total for 12 days was a whopping $60 in gas. Traffic was very heavy so once I left the Sol station across the causeway, I decided to see what options I might find along the lagoon. I was hesitant but since Lagoonies has $5 rum punch, I thought I would have one and check out the menu. They had a duck special, a stuffed vegetarian sweet potato and a beef short rib "burger".
I decided to give the beef short rib special sandwich a try. It was on a johnny cake and came with fries (very good) or salad. Somehow, I ended up with both. I have to say, it was very different but very good and I had no regrets about ordering it. I decided to splurge and had a chocolate mousse as well.
The manager was serving, and the bartender was doing a good job. I sat at the bar today and yesterday the manager was bartending versus waiting tables. Service was much better than I anticipated, and the only glitch was their printer was not working so when I asked foy my check, it was off by several $$. I questioned the discrepancy, and she looked at the computer and got it within $1 so I don't know if the menu price had been changed or what. I thought they charged me for the salad, but she assured me they did not. I was told there was no service charge and when it was all done, it did not appear they added one, just something in the pricing was messed up.
After today, I would go again but I was a little surprised as previous visits were not as memorable.
Travel day tomorrow probably not much to report until I return home.
