After another slow start to the day and after pastries for Le Sucrière, we decided to do something of a pub crawl in the afternoon. We started at The Anchor Bar, which is at the Isla del Sol yacht club. You can go back but must surrender your driver's license in exchange for a pass. It is a nice setting, and you can see many yachts up close, but NO pictures. They have a small menu but were not serving food yesterday. We each had a drink and then headed to Lagoonies.

They were just finishing with what looked to be a good lunch crowd, we got a table and waited and waited for someone to take a drink order. I then went to the bar and asked if we could order. It seems every time I go to this place, the service or lack of is the same. They do have a good rum punch for $5 and it tasted like it had some cinnamon in it. On to the next stop.

I was dropped off at Royal Isander to meet up with Sheila and Ed and another couple I met on the flight down. Sadly, I missed Gretchen and kim.

The others went to SSBB and I walked over to Driftwood as I have no desire to go to SSBB. One ship was scheduled yesterday but due to weather conditions (so I was told) skipped stopping a SXM. Driftwood was doing a brisk business, but I found a seat at the bar and The Whale Tails appeared. We then moved to a table and enjoyed some island conversation. The others in my group said SSBB was not very busy with several sections closed off.

Back to Royal Palm as I was meeting Junior Bruney for dinner at Lee's. I went a little early for HH and was again joined by The Whale Tail as I wanted them to meet Junior. He arrived and entertained them with island conversation, which we all enjoyed. Junior and I each had Mahi, and I found Lee's had garlic bread on the menu (which I never noticed) so we added that as well. Having known Junior for going on 34 years now, it is always a pleasure to spend more time with him. Several on TTOL have met him as well. Another good meal and evening. I know the others went to Isola but I have no food report yet.

Lee also came in again. This was the third time I have seen him and talked to him on this trip. He and Junior go way back. Lee seems to be doing really good.

Wednesday is departure day for our group. I just received an email from AA about East coast weather possibly impacting my flight through CLT. The rest of the group are flying into MIA and staying in FL while another is connecting through ATL. I am hoping for smooth returns for all of us.

We also had a unexpected self made pub crawl. We started out the day with breakfast at The Deli in Maho and a little shopping in Maho. Our intention was to drop off a bottle of Niagara wine to the bartender of the pool bar at La Terrasse but he didn't open until 2pm. So we headed over to D's to say hi to our friends there and had a couple of drinks there. By the time we got to La Terrasse we ran into friends from Canada that just arrived so it was difficult to pry ourselves away from that bar. Our intention was to go to the Driftwood to have my first rum punch on this trip and order a pizza to go at the same time. Well that didn't work. As we walked in JD was sitting at the bar. Throw that plan out the window. JD invited us to Lee's to meet his friend Junior which we did. Anytime I get the chance to meet people with so much island knowledge the conversation is always interesting.
Today we are going to P'Burg and with a little luck I won't run into anybody I know so my intention is to behave today. We'll see.

Sorry we missed you. We landed at SMYC around 6:15 and didn’t leave until close to 10:30. Place was packed!

Had I known, I would have come by. The others tried to get in the Red Piano and could not even get in.

I've never been to Lagoonies. Sounds like I haven't missed much. The Whale Tails will be sorry to see you go home, as will the rest of us, reading your reports! Safe travels home!

Thanks. A lot of people like it but it has never been a favorite. We wanted Cody to see it. The Anchor Bar is a nice diversion.

The Whale Tails are good people, and I enjoyed the time with them.

Thanks.

Been to Lagoonies twice. First time was just OK. Second time confirmed to not go back.

We have generally enjoyed Lagoonies but are there in low season which might make a difference. They are definitely a laid back place with lots of locals and boat folks. We are generally there for lunch. They have a limited menu but food has been quite good with a French flair.

Carol we used to love Lagoons and made sure to stop each visit. However, a few years ago we found the place, menu, service, entirely different. Menu didn't offer things we'd come to love. It seemed more vegetarian orientated. Service was slow enough to be non the verge of ignoring.

Not sure if you were at the Driftwood when the bartender Asía was doing her dancing thing but it was hilarious…
