Last year, we went for a day using ferry to Saba. Hiked Mt. Scenery. Beautiful. Was a little rushed as we couldn't do anything else.

We were thinking of doing again (airplane not an option), but snorkeling. Anyone done this for a day with ferry? How as your day if you did? Thanks!

Staying over just one night seems difficult as ferry does not run everyday.

I'm not sure about Saba for snorkeling as there is no beach but it's a great dive destination.

Wait for it... I agree with Scuba! duh

If you are a diver, as your name implies, why not dive?

We had an acquaintance that died in a dive off Saba. He was a dive instructor so that led us to believe it might be dangerous there.

Dinner Sunday here in Rhode Island we met, at the next table, a couple that had just returned from Saba. the day before. We asked where to eat and/or stay and Juliana's was the recommendation.

We last went to Saba in 1990 by motorboat. Thanks for the info about the ferry not running daily because we were thinking about a side trip there from our stay in SXM his March. Maybe we'll go to Pinel .

Diving at Saba isn't anymore risky that any other place. Just because he was an instructor doesn't mean you are diving without a risk. I've logged 9 dives off of Saba and never felt it was any different than all the other dive destinations I've been to.

We are considering diving. But the issue is if you want one day and the ferry, it leaves not enough time. Last time we hiked, we only had time for that and about 30 minutes to walk the trail head town. Not even enough to sit and eat. If ferry was each day - that would allow lots of options - like a one night stay and do any activity you want. Wife won't fly in the little plane. I would love it myself.

No beach, the snorkeling is by boat.

At least you don't have to worry about flying after diving - the flight back doesn't go over 5000', probably lower.

Zanshin--thanks for that info. I knew that there is a problem with diving and then flying, within a short period of time. I thought originally that might have been his issue with not wanting to fly.

If you take the Edge over you'll still have time for a 2 tank dive as the ferry drops you off and picks you up where the dive operations are.
