Hello to you BVI veterans, I have 3 questions: 1. If we wanted to make our itinerary a little easier for first time bareboat, can you get the same ball 2 nights in a row? (FCFS I assume is the only way if at all?) 2. If so, which destination would you pick to do this at? 3. If we wanted one night at a marina, which would you recommend? (kids with that are 14,14,12 and 9) and 6 adults
THANK YOU! I will also post our itinerary rough plan once I get it put together to get your awesome thoughts ... you rock!

I would get a FCFS and the problem is solved. If however you want a boatyball simply try and get that ball again the next morning. If you can’t simply move to a FCFS as they vacate in the morning. Best option of all if in area that allows for it is to just anchor.

With kids, I would do two nights at Leverick. They have a pool, Michael Beans pirate show. Then rent a safari truck the second day and drive to the baths for the day with stops at The Copper Mine, Top of the Baths for a swim, and Hog Heaven for sunset on the way back. Also would do two nights at Great Harbour and you can taxi over to White Bay from there.

slips at Leverick are nice since it simplifies comings and goings of people on the boat.

NOT NICE if heavy weather. Lines will shred unless you have chains!

A good place for two nights on a FCFS ball is Kelly’s Cove in Norman since it’s a beautiful spot, there is good snorkeling, and there are a lot of other options close. However, we often squat on a ball or anchor in front of Ivan’s on Jost as well. Both are great in our opinion!

Interesting. What happened to you? We've taken a slip there for a night or two many times and have never experienced anything like that.

If the wind clocks around to the NE and is above 15 knots the dock at Leverick can be rough. With normal East winds or better yet ESE winds it’s fine.

The mooring field at Leverick can get choppy in ENE too, enough that we haven't stayed overnight there in many years as there are many better protected options.

Ok:
We rented a safari truck at Leverick Bay and it came in manual transmission > here we go / I haven't driven a "standard" in "awhile". We had 5 players in the back of the truck (all screaming) / somehow survived that "hairpin steep curve" leaving Leverick Bay > up to Hog Heaven and over the Peak to the Bath's. Upon arriving at the Bath's, my wife said: "That was real good. Would you like someone else to drive us back?"
It's like the song Tony at the Last Resort use to sing about the end of a seven day Bareboat charter > ~ your best friends are now your worst enemies.

I did it a couple of weeks ago. Rarely got out of second gear. Only complaint from the back is when I missed the “sleeping policemen” because they weren’t painted recently. Haha
