I am doing the segment today as we are leaving tomorrow for Anguilla, and I am not sure how much time I will have in the morning.
A pretty uneventful day. One in the group had a serious hip problem so getting places without having to walk is sometimes a challenge so I must drop the group as close to a door as possible. I had a leftover pastry while the others wanted SMYC for a late breakfast. I was able to get in the lot and drop them off before heading off to get gas and run a couple of errands. I prefer to use the SOL station across the causeway bridge. Easy in and out while the station in Simpson Bay almost always has a lengthy line. Gas converted to about $4.83/gal. I was able to get back in the lot at SMYC just as the bridge was opening.
They were just finishing their meals when I saw a familiar face. Neal Roberd of Celine/Enigama fame was ag the bar. We chatted a bit and then he joined us for a couple of beers. We had an interesting experience 20+ years ago on the Celine so I must remind Neal of that. We exchanged island tales for about an hour and enjoyed the conversation. It appeared the SMYC had an issue with the potatoes this morning. Either a new chef or confusion led to the potatoes being over-seasoned with cayenne pepper. I guess the servers received several comments about the spice and they offered to either make new potatoes or replace them with fruit.
Back to Royal Palm as I needed to make some connections regarding the trip to Anguilla tomorrow. We added a couple of people on, and I needed to make sure it would work. Problem solved. Some time around the pool and a rousing game of dominoes was had. I also ran into another long-time SXM acquaintance, Mary Beth. She is staying here this week, and it was good to catch up with her.
We are going out on the Lambada this evening for the sunset cruise and then Mark's Place for dinner and an early evening since we must be at the ferry terminal across from the airport prior to 9:00 and must allow for the 8:30 bridge opening.
