Whoa Air France 446 heading to sxm suspected a fuel leak going over Atlantic & diverted to Gander Newfoundland in Canada. Landed safely where they were looked after & accommodated by airport staff. A new aircraft was sent from Paris CDG & carried passengers on to SXM. Reported by CBFM- Cape Breton. I wondered what the AF4080 flight was. Now I know. Good job Gander!!

Good thing they detected it. Recently, Some plane took off from Honolulu to Seattle I think and the ground and tower could see a mile long trail of mist. The pilots were aware of nothing but were alerted and on landing it was pouring out. https://avherald.com/h?article=523f91e8&opt=0

There was one that was diverted there due to a medical emergency. Was this another one?

Saw this on Facebook. "𝐀𝐢𝐫 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐟𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐭𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐆𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 Due to a suspected fuel leak yesterday, the crew of flight AF446 from Paris (CDG) to Saint Martin (SXM) decided to divert to Gander, Canada (YQX). This was done in application of the precautionary principle and in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and the airline's procedures. The crews are regularly trained to deal with this type of known and controlled situation. The aircraft landed normally at Gander at 2:42 p.m., where customers are being looked after and accommodated by airport staff and maintenance checks will be carried out. A new aircraft will depart from Paris CDG Saturday and will take customers from Gander to Saint-Martin. The company regrets the inconvenience caused by this situation and says safety of customers and crew members is the most important."

I think the problem plane came in much later yesterday, I was surprised to see it in Canada on flight tracker well after 5 pm and then still sitting at SXM this morning
