On Saturday, only 600 cruise passengers were expected, so we decided to go to a long time favorite, Orange Fever at Orient Beach. Two chairs with pads on the front row were $10, which I thought was quite reasonable. We also had their BBC's , which are great, and their pizza, which is a crispy style, and my wife had a salad. JC was there and was, in his words, bombastic. The weather was nice, not as windy as Grand Case has been, and the water was great for swimming. I saw a tractor on the beach towards Mt. Vernon that was picking up the sargassum, but only saw some in the water right opposite Mt. Vernon, none near Orange Fever or the other restaurants. On the way back, we stopped at Sebastien Quillere in the Mt. Vernon shopping plaza opposite Leader Price, and exercised great restraint - we only bought 2 lemons, a chocolate concotion and a brownie. The Lemon was, as always , out of this world, and the brownie, while not a work of art, was fantastic. That night we had leftovers from our Orange Fever Lunch.

Sunday, there were no cruise ships on the schedule, so we went to Mullet. $30 for a pair of chairs in front of Rosies. Almost no wind, waves were gentle and swimming was fun and even saw a few fish snorkeling by the rocks on the left end of the beach. Lunch was Rosies - chicken nuggets and cheeseburgers - nothing to write home about.

That night we went to La Villa. We got a mushroom ravoli as an appetizer, it was great, and my wife got the shrimp and scallops which were quite tasty. Service was impeccable, and the place was packed by 6:30, not an empty seat .

Monday and Tuesday, we were a little under the weather, so stayed at Grand Case - again, very windy. Tonight we took a walk and surveyed the options, and decided to try Quintessence , where Pascuals used to be. We ordered a Ceasar Salad and two pizzas to go, so I can't say anything about the service. I got a margherita and my wife ordered the St. Martin. The Cesar came in a bread bowl made of pizza dough, and my wife loved it. The margherita was spot on if you like thin crust, a little char on the bottom, and a puffy rim. Unfortunately , while the St. Martin was supposed to have goat cheese, but the time we got home we realized they substituted barrata. Otherwise, that pizza was good, but a lot of food, especially the prosciutto,

Although it was Tuesday night, no sign of a Harmony night Les Mardis de Grand Case, nor has the street been closed to through traffic any night this week. I had heard that Harmony night had been postponed, but not sure when it will resume.

Traffic was light on both Saturday and Sunday, and while in years past, the scooters were horrendous, I only saw a few on each trip.

Nice report and pictures.
" Lunch was Rosies - chicken nuggets and cheeseburgers - nothing to write home about."
To me Rosies has lost it's luster. Chicken nuggets belong at a McDonalds and the one and only time I ordered a burger there it was some kind of mystery meat. I'll stick to packing a few snacks, drinks, maybe a baguette sandwich and enjoy Mullet my way.

We only get chicken (pieces, NOT nuggets!!) and ribs at Rosies. Burgers are not good.

Thanks for reporting.

So, no Mardi Gras Tuesday.

Quintessence choices sounded good. Someone (if not you) posted the menu here before.

In my humble opinion, going to Rosie's, and NOT ordering her ribs should be a crime!!! BEST ribs on the island. They made their reputation on drinks and ribs!!!! Can't wait to next month, i can taste those ribs already. smile

That's a matter of your opinion. I've had not so good ribs there before. Not to say they are always bad but mine weren't as good as I've had there before. Depends on the day like many other places.
