Hi All, I searched this topic and nothing came up.
We prefer to bring our own wine for our bareboat charter and have done in the past with no detection or issues (or duty).
Recently when speaking with a friend who lives in the Bahamas, he was shocked that we've gotten away with it. Seems like the Bahamas charges 100% duty on wine brought in.
I looked up the rules and it seems that each person is allowed to enter with 2 liters of wine. So two bottles is 1.5 liters. So my calculations say were good for at least 8-10 bottles for 4 people.
I've also read that a traveler with a box of 12 bottles was charged only $25 total for the box.
I don't see anything listed on how they tax for liters beyond the allowance.
Has anyone experienced bringing in a box of 12 bottles or more?
Regards,

You never really know what you will be charged. With the new automated online customs form I have been charged duty both times where in the past they would just waive me through. There are excellent wine shops in the BVI. I would order from them. Simply and easy.

I don't think there's any duty-free allowance, but you may not always be charged. I suspect George's experience with the electronic form will be the new normal. Echoing what George said, check Tico and Caribbean Cellars before deciding you need to haul wine from home.

It is indeed 2L of wine per person. I brought in 4 bottles (2 for each me and my wife, which is really only 3 litres but I only had a four pack shipper in my bag. We supplemented that with a few bottles from Relish Gourmet (Nanny Cay location is across Omars from the RiteWay, next to the Scuba shop). They have an entirely reasonable selection of wines there.

The French Deli has a large selection of French wines, including really high-end vintages.
