Check out the jewelry repair shop across from Juggies next to Krave. They buy and sell gold.

I am just curious.

Just keeping an eye out while Iā€™m there. Less than 12 months ago, $2200 was an all time high.

May go higher and I have a lot of paper fiat on hand that is losing value.

Money that isn't backed by gold or silver is referred to as fiat currency.

You realize there are limitations on amount of currency that can be transported without declaring.

Scuba is correct currency (and gold) with a value of over $10,000 must be declared on exit from or entry to the US. The form to do so is Fincen 105.

I think you can legally transport a million worth but must be declared over $10,000. I usually have to make several trips to take it places.

I might see selling in SXM to avoid cap gains tax

If you are a US citizen that does not work at all. Worldwide income is taxable.

Ok...so then why risk bringing cash to buy them in SXM and risk carring them home. Why not just get them at spot + in your home country.

If that's the case then you might pay a premium for hard to find collector coins.
