Even though I've used the new departure are twice since it opened, I can't remember if you are required to remove electronics from your carry on luggage. I am moving from a smaller soft-sided bag to a larger suitcase and would like to not have to unzip it to remove my laptop if I don't have to.
US airports are not a problem since I have TSA pre-check.
Thanks

I also did not have to remove anything from my carryon bag when going through security last week. When they were doing the rebuilding of the terminal they invested in all new technology in both arrivals and departures.

My husband did have to remove his Chromebook & they waved a wand over it. Not sure what that's for though.

In addition to suspicious items, they do random drug and explosive testing. I suspect that is what happened with your husband. The wand checks for trace exposure of electronic devices to bomb or explosive material. I have had my laptop swabbed at other airports.

" I have had my laptop swabbed at other airports." Same here both at US airports and International. Not a big deal.
