Chances are it will not be a legitimate franchise. Just a local copycat in the SXM tradition. ie: Dominos, KFC, etc.

That's OK. Still another option for food at PJIA.

Yes, more options is good. I wonder if there are any plans for another sit-down restaurant there? Cafe Juliana was the best!!

Nice view of the runway there too. I miss that in the new airport.

Yes. Food, service and especially the runway view always left a great impression to want to return to SXM.

Not sure where you are getting the info on the others being copy cat. Not only is Domino's a legit franchise, but I have read that Dominoes has recognized the franchise owner in St. Maarten for his marketing stunts, such as delivery to the most islands in one day. On the other hand, not sure why they would award a second burger franchise in the airport.

"On the other hand, not sure why they would award a second burger franchise in the airport." Why not? Many airports have multiple franchises that sell burgers.

On the whole, if I had a choice between Wendy's and Jonny Burger (sp???), I would pick Jonny Burger 1,000 times out of a thousand. Just sayin'.

Just more options for travelers. And to think that Burger King gets consistent first place votes for best burger from the locals in the Daily Herald Best of St Maarten. Wendy's might be just what the locals are looking for before boarding.

We will see if they succeed. I’d rather see a local like Rosies sell good fare at good prices. Rent probably precludes that.

All this hype about Rosies. Last time I was there this last May it was horrible. Two in our party had the ribs, one had chicken and I had the burger if you could call it that. We all decided it was a big mistake to get food there. Never again for us.

Wendy's was already in Sxm many years ago. They had a rather big restaurant with a big parking space on Airport Road, on the lagoon side, not too far away from where the causeway is now. It was not successful

I remember that. It was ever so brief. ‘Maybe late 80’s?? And yes the parking lot was huge. I thought there was a Taco Bell as well!!

This post makes me recall the great food at the Cafe. Back in the 80's we used to say if you wanted the best food on SXM eat at the airport. Someone told me the owner used to be the gentleman who now has JAX.

We all need to remember that the airport is used by many passengers who are not tourists. Local residents, many with children, also fly! While we may be looking for more high end fare at the airport, others may be more budget conscious. And kids generally prefer something more familiar.

This post makes me recall the great food at the Cafe. Back in the 80's we used to say if you wanted the best food on SXM eat at the airport. Someone told me the owner used to be the gentleman who now has JAX. Bajatzu was started by Bobby and Janea, who had Cafe Juliana. Jax is now where Bajatzu was located but has different ownership. We had a small group having dinner as Bajatzu with a local SXM friend many years ago and the friend knew Bobby. He came to the table and visited for a while, he was an interesting person and treated us very well that night. I beleive he also flew medical evacuation flights.

Bobby, had a private jet that was available for charters and ambulance if needed. He started as F&B Manager at Mullet Bay, and for those of you that remember the two restaurants on the beach they were magnificently managed. He has been one of the best F&B manager and restaurant's owner I ever remember in Sxm.
