@jeepers
Can I assume you were on WestJet flight 2277 back to Toronto on Tuesday, February 4th? If so, I was on that flight and we only got notice that morning that the aircraft had been switched out to one of the Swoop planes. I was booked in Premium, but there is no Premium cabin. The cabin crew did their best to make lemonade out of lemons, but it wasn't what we paid for. WestJet says they will have all the single cabin aircraft converted by early 2026, but it is a real crap shoot currently. I also don't understand why they swap them out on the longer-haul flights rather than on shorter-hop flights of 2 hours or less.
The first 3 rows on each side were regular 3x3, 17" wide, economy seats, instead of 2x2, 21" wide, business seats. They did keep the middle seats empty at least. I was lucky to be on the right side, since the first few rows on that side had 35" extended leg room (vs. 38" in business). I felt really bad for those booked in the first three rows.on the left side, since they just had regular 29" pitch seats!! We also did not get a hot meal since there are no ovens on these aircraft, but we did get a decent 3-course meal with a cold pasta salad entree.
You mention not having wine available. If it was the same flight, we certainly had wine and drinks available in the "Premium" seats. Or were you in economy and paid for a wine add-on? Not cool, in any case.
And the cherry on the top is that WestJet will be giving me $100 WestJet dollars to use on a future flight, when Premium seats are usually 2 tro 3 times the cost of basic economy seats.
