I was able to book 2 round trip tickets using AA miles for 53000 miles plus a tax of 183.00 for next December. This is a direct flight out of CLT also these are main cabin extra seats on exit row since I am able to use my EP status. So if your planning of SXM trip next Dec. 2025 good time to check if you have a lot air miles to use.

Is that for one or two tickets? Last I checked, mileage awards were outrageous.

Carol, I sorta figured that, but 53k miles was closer to what I had seen in the past per person, so I had to ask. Maybe AA is getting less gougey with their mileage awards.

cruzer--post says 2 tickets. May be but 183.00 fee for a round trip sounds about right for 1 person. Maybe OP will chime in and clarify.

The break down was 18500 pp from CLT to SXM and 8000 pp from SXM to CLT 26500 x 2 for 53000 total. I immediately jumped on that deal if they made a mistake its to late now i have the flights booked with conformation emails lol. We are flying down on 12th back on Dec. 25th too so 8000 pp on Xmas is crazy cheap.
Scuba the 183.48 was the tax total for both of us
My wife is going New Orleans with me for work in Feb. and I used points for her flight and the total was 66000 points just to put it in perspective of course she is flying back in business class since she will only be down for 2 of the 4 weeks I'm there for work Now I did just book that today and trip in Feb 23 so it is still not bad for last minute.

Alltech63, Thank you, thank you, thank you for your post! My wife and I are going back to SXM in just over 3 weeks, 2/26 for 2 weeks. I used American miles in June to book our flights. At that time the tickets were 42,500 miles each. I saw your post and checked what they would be if I booked now. The miles had dropped to 24,500 each ticket RT. I just finished speaking to an American ticket rep, cancelled the original booking, rebooked the exact same flight and saved a total of 36,000 miles!!!!!! Like I said, thanks for the post! By the way, taxes were the same on both sets of tickets. Anyone that has used miles for an upcoming trip, I strongly advise you to re-check your tickets!
One note, we are flying mid week. we were on original tickets also.

On a similar note ...for those in the NYC metro area AA has some attractive FF miles flight options on their "new" Saturday JFK-SXM-JFK nonstop in the next 1-2 months

My FC AA return with miles from SXM to SEA in June stayed the same at 95K pp. Didn't matter which day of the week.

That's still not to bad Scuba since you're flying from the west coast. AA wanted close to the same amount from CLT for FC/BC RT another change I noticed on my booking was AA offering upgrades on FF miles ticket for a cost it was kind of high though. In the past when I have used miles there was never an upgrade offer.
