I looked at the video and it seems that they went wide at the turn in the lagoon. There's a spot close to where they are stuck where even a dinghy with a deep prop has to watch out; and I've gone into the IWW fuel dock with catamarans close to that path and the depth sounder came close to reading 0". They must have grounded very hard, or tried to use the engines to push through once aground. There's hardly any tide in St. Martin, and even less inside the lagoon, although water levels do go up after rainfall.
