There are two new towers going up near Poerto Cupecoy. Now near the Cupecoy market an excavator has been there the last couple of days removing all the trees and leveling out the property. Looks like maybe another building going up. It’s very disrupting listening to that noise every day at Sapphire Beach club or nearby.

Sorry, I think Cupecoy is a sh*t show. All those huge buildings, which are an eyesore to me, and accessed only by a road that floods whenever it rains.

Yes Carol, the condition of that road should be criminal. We drove through there just once last trip and dh said never again. Biggest mess and been that way forever.

The two new concrete towers are visible from Porto Cupecoy, but they aren't really near Porto Cupecoy. They are on Tigris Road, past Fat Tony's and past the Caribbean International Academy. It looks like the developer may be creating a new access road adjacent to the Blue Residence (formerly the Blue Mall).

I also noticed the new bulldozed area across from Sapphire Beach Club. Could be a new access road, could be new parking, and could be a new building of some sort.

I know there is a new road being built. We hear the excavator working all day. Loud loud noise.

Thanks to the new towers, Jordan Village has become vibrant. The Sapphire sucks, many guests cut their stay short. During IRMA, part of the roofing was torn off and the place was drenched for days. Mold chewed away at it. Time-share owners spend more on maintenance fees that a week's rent elsewhere.

The leveling is for an access road to Aqua Resort. They are building it now that the main construction work is over. Meanwhile, every 5 minutes, cement mixers thundered down Jordan road and they have ruined the surface ...

Some people are never happy. Not enough money pouring into the Island, they complain that the place is going down the drain.

More development, they complain.

Add to that the fact that we also own property that someone, who was already here, frowned upon ...

Just like recent immigrants are against immigration, it's always the last person who arrives, who slams the door closed.

Everyone has their opinion. Jordan Village was vibrant well before the Towers. I personally dislike high rises on SXM, as it makes it look like Miami.

I agree, but after IRMA, it was slow and places were closing. Thanks to the influx of tourists, the Casino has reopened and there are several new places.

I agree, everyone has an opinion.

We like this area, stayed in Maho for two months a couple of years ago and never again. The noise issue from the aircraft landing and taking off all day is too much, plus the noise from the bars, Mykenos. We find it way quieter here and close to everything.

I'm confused, you are staying in Cupecoy? Earlier in this thread, you were complaining about construction noise?

No, we still like the area but the recent noise is disturbing. It has quieted down since last week.
