Calmos Café was full & many repeats at the tables. Wait staff trying to keep up with orders. Lots of staff. Grand case busy. It seems everyone was coming in & out via airport road including taxis after 8. The main grand case boulevard was blocked off with fencing just south of Calmos café so no vehicles appeared to get through after 8. People were walking on road to restaurants & shops after 8. We parked across road in lot by the bridge & we came via airport at 6:00. I saw no police at that time. We however went to restaurant & didnt wander further down. Upon leaving Calmos at 9 there were many police officers watching us leave. Our meal was quite lovely. Chicken with green curry coconut sauce & creole rice, chuck beef simmered 4 hours with garlic mashed potatoes, Maui Maui with sauce & vegetables. We had the French toast dessert. Excellent. We enjoyed red Bordeaux wine & their signature cocktail of the day rum with homemade raspberry syrup, apple juice & lime juice. Appetizer was toast with caramalized onions, dried mini tomatoes , goat cheese & balsamic glaze. Yum!
We went to Calmos twice in December and enjoyed it both times. It is not the high end gourmet that Grand Case is known for but it is good food in that upper medium range with a great atmosphere.
I'm rethinking our dinner choices while staying in GC. Was going to depend on the GCBC shuttle but it sounds like we'll still have to walk which is trouble for hubby.
