My dad had Horse meat in France when he immigrated from Lebanon back in the early 1900's when he was 16. Said it was just ok but was happy to have something to eat. I've never tried it and probably won't.
erb--I grew up next to beef cattle, and we used to get a half of beef butchered from them every year. So anything beef is fine with me. But horse? Sorry, that's a hard no.
I've been bragging about this place since it opened. Carol formally of L"Estaminet in Grand Case told us a friend had opened this place and to be sure we go. Haven't been disappointed in all our visits. But the only thing I thought strange was beef cheeks because I'd never had them. But I've never seen Horse on the menu. Tried Horse tartar in Spain and it was delicious!
Ya. I was a guest at a farmers house invited to goose hunt. Didn't know what it was till the next morning when it was time for breakfast and he told me to grab a package out of the freezer of cube steak marked "coyote " . That's when I found out what we had night before. Won't describe the reaction after I told my 12yr old daughter that morning.🙄
Be Kool was always our first stop upon arrival but as it becomes more well know, last year we had to drive by, make a reservation for another day's lunch (or two) and find another place for a bite upon arrival.
