I'll do this with 2 threads, the first on the walk and the 2nd on the new place between Karakters and Mary's Boon. A little bit of sargassum remnants and more plastic on shore that I would like to see but it's still my favorite beach to walk. The bay is starting to get more boats anchored as it gets closer to New Years Eve and I saw the mega yacht Faith go by on it's way to P'Burg and eventually to St Barths. The beached sailboat is still there and stripped of everything of value. The deck is now split open and is getting deeper and deeper into the sand. Maybe they hope it will eventually disappear. Looked like every beach chair was in use at Mary's Boon and Karakters was closed on Monday. Down at the far end by the lift bridge the new condo is coming along and pretty soon you won't be able to see Royal Palm from this side.
On the return trip we stopped at Mary's Boon to rehydrate and then continued on towards D's Beach Bar which is when we came across Mark and Danita walking their dog. They are the former owners of Karakters and we had a good chat with them. They are now operating a bar restaurant in the former location of The Naked Pirate by Domino's Pizza on Welfare Rd. It's called FeestCafe SXM (feest is Dutch translates to party). We will stop in for a visit soon.
Then onto D's for a snack of chips and salsa and wings and more rehydration. We saw Tom the former manager of The Beer Garden sitting at the bar and got up to date with him. He is now working at Jax's. Good steak house and a new pastry chef makes for a return visit.
