I compared the cameras from the live YouTube video to the one from SSB and they are completely different..
I looked at SSBB yesterday and it is the same view today and the same people in it. I opened 3 tabs a few minutes apart and they all started the same. Pretty sad. I went once in March as we had a first timer with us, but I have zero desire to return.
We have to go by that beach to pick up and drop off our rental car, and it always amazes me the number of people that are there. They walk all over the wall, and in the road, with no consideration whatsover to the fact that traffic is trying to pass. On Friday, it was jam packed; no space at all between the chairs. Knowing how much more the island has to offer, it always makes me sad to think that, for so many, this will be their memory.
It is surprising there are no accidents or pedestrians struck there. I go back to when Sunset started. The explosion happened with the advent of social media and the plane situation being brought to attention.
I agree with GaKaye, when we were there last year it was a total gong show. The tourists now call it Airplane Beach, not Maho Beach. We met a woman there from the states and she said she would never come back to SXM. I asked her why, and she thought all beaches were packed like Maho. I said no, you have to try the other beaches that are beautiful. It's the cruise ships that now offer excursions to Maho Beach. That never happened a few years ago.
