ok, so i know traffic is horrible here, and last time i was here (18 moths or so) was pretty bad. as i am on island now....
OMG, this is horrible, worse than Boston during rush hour, came in Tuesday (12/10) at about 500, got my rental from Kenny at airport no problem......... it took me almost 90 min to get to pelican key
next time will do a scooter (once i find out who i can get it from)

just a heads up, i see nothing that will change traffic issues here....hahaha

Sorry that was such a bad arrival situation, but scooters are bad news! Anyway, hope things are only downhill from here.

Wierd, we were in St. Maarten last year for two months. We rented a car the whole time we were there and really didn't find the traffic bad.
We do plan what times to cross the Simpsons Bay bridge though.

CC--did you go off season? We always do, and traffic then is not bad.

The traffic can be so crazy, we have found a spot we love in Terres Basses where we can avoid most of the traffic for where we want to go. We have given up staying in Pelican or Beacon Hill in part because it's so much easier to navigate from Terres Basses, but we are pretty flexible with where we want to go. And, I always check the cruise ship schedule if we are going near Phillipsburg or even to Orient and plan our schedules accordingly! Next trip we are splitting time between there and a villa on the French side.
