I’ve never done much of a trip report. We have returned home but I wanted to share our wonderful vacation. I’ll put these together as time permits.

We flew down early morning 11/26 on Delta. The first leg was BDL to ATL. We had a 54 minute layover and I was more than a little concerned. Going on vacation is always bookmarked by heightened stress levels. We work twice as hard to make sure our business will have as few issues as possible while we get away. We were fortunate to have our flight arrive in ATL about 15 minutes early. We quickly picked up a Plane Train to the international terminal and walked up to the gate and right onto the plane. I never fully exhale until I am in the air and know the next earth I touch is in sweet SXM.

We landed and deplaned on the tarmac with shuttles waiting. Ours seemed to be the only plane at the time. With no checked baggage, we got through customs in about 20 minutes, walked outside, met Lesley to show us to our car and were off. We really appreciated our brand new Hyundai.

I decided to take the long way to Orient Bay past Mullet, Cupecoy, Nettle Bay and Marigot. We hadn’t driven that way since Irma and it was a pleasant drive. We hit quite a bit of traffic from just past Marigot to La Savane near Cool Heure. That span itself took about 40 minutes.

This was the first time we stayed in Orient Bay Village. We had a fabulous 2 bdrm across the street from Alamanda and the beach. Dinner the first night was Le P’tit Bistro. We had Crispy Goat Spring Rolls and Beef Tartar for starters. The Tartar was seasoned perfectly and the Spring Rolls were delicious. For entrees, my wife had Trigger Fish with chardonnay butter sauce and I had Fish Tartar. The Trigger Fish was spot on. Great sauce. The fish tartar was ok. I was trying to eat light but something cooked would have been better. Raw fish after raw meat…what was I thinking? We really enjoyed our meal and would certainly return. We went back and absolutely crashed.
